The Secrets of Successful Podcasting

podcasting

Successful podcasting require optimizing your audio content. Whether you want to take your podcast to the next level or launch your podcast from a solid foundation of tactical and inspirational knowledge, read on.

In Episodes 105 and 106 of the Marketing Matrix Podcast, Travis Brown of Pod Decks shared how to create a frictionless podcast experience for your listeners, stay motivated to create and record content, and how to build an active community.

Here are some of the most notable takeaways:

How to Format the Beginning Of Your Podcast

One of the most important things is to provide an attention-grabbing and frictionless experience for your podcast listeners.

Two ways of doing this?

  1. Use a hook at the very beginning: tell them what they’re going to learn or what the big nugget of wisdom is in the episode. Avoid those ads or several minutes of small talk right off the bat.
  2. Right after the hook, provide a short introduction.

By getting straight to the meat of your episode, your listeners will thank you.

People are really busy. If you can get people into your show and let them know immediately what they’re going to gain from listening, they’re more likely to stay for the entire episode.

How to Maintain The Momentum to Continue Podcasting

Podcasting can feel difficult, since initially it will feel like you’re talking into a mic to no one.

However—there could be tons of people listening and enjoying your content, and they may just never take the time to reach out to you and say, “Hey, that episode really changed my view on this,” or, “Your content changed my life!”

The trick? Believe in your content. Keep going and share your stories.

Also, keep in mind that by podcasting consistently, you’re building a library of content. This will benefit you because when a person is new to your ecosystem and is ready to consume your words of wisdom, they’re going to be able to go back and listen to all of the episodes you published (and therefore build trust with you and your brand) without you having to do a single extra thing.

Content Creators Create Community

Like a lot of knowledge workers and content creators alike, podcasters are the same. Ultimately we just want to be a part of something bigger.

Focus on your community, and you will go far.

One of the ways to support your community is to help your niche with actionable tips and tricks. Don’t hold back. By sharing all that you can, you’ll end up helping others, which will build trust in you. And yes, they will still want to purchase your offer in the end, even though you’re sharing valuable content for free.

Another way to really engage with your community? Take a few extra seconds to really get to know someone who is new to following you on a social media platform (an example is Instagram). Sending a personalized audio message is a quick way to someone’s heart.
